Surgery of the vocal cords, breathing and swallowing disorders unit
As part of the unit, we provide preventive, medical or surgical care for laryngeal inflammations, tracheal stenosis, hoarseness, swallowing disorders, sleep apnea, benign and malignant laryngeal tumors. In addition, surgeries are mostly performed using advanced technologies, with the aid of a microscope and without external incisions. The advanced equipment and instruments required for surgery are available to the unit, including a laser system and advanced endoscopic equipment. As part of the unit activity, it is now possible to treat early-stage tumors in the vocal cords and larynx using laser, thus preventing total laryngectomy or radiation therapy. These surgeries are performed in collaboration with the Head and Neck Unit headed by Dr. Avi Hefetz.
