Prof. Oded Nahlieli, the director of the oral, maxillofacial and salivary gland surgery and endoscopic surgery unit, is a graduate of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1979.
Prof. Nahlieli completed his residency at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. Between 1988 and 1989, he specialized in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston USA, which is affiliated to Harvard University. Since 1995, Professor Nahlieli serves as the director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit in Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
The main areas in which he provides treatment and performs surgery are: inflammations and infections of the salivary glands, salivary gland stones, endoscopic surgery of the salivary glands, repair of nerve damage to the tongue and lip nerves. Prof. Nahlieli is an associate professor at Ben Gurion University and a supplementary associate professor at New York University. Since 1993, he has developed the field of microendoscopy of the salivary glands and is one of the pioneers in this field worldwide. He has developed a series of endoscopes and microsurgery techniques in the fields of medicine and dentistry.
Prof. Nahlieli has published over 90 articles, 10 chapters, a book on salivary glands and 25 patents in worldwide literature. His articles in the field of salivary gland endoscopy are considered groundbreaking with regard to salivary gland disease treatment methods.
